Today for CIP we had to do research on someone that is famous and always does something nice for someone. I chose Ellen DeGeneres because I really look up to her for everything that she accomplishes. Here are some pictures of my research.
I am a student at in Uru Mānuka. In 2020 I was a year 9 and in 2021 I will be a year 10. This is a place where I will be able to share my learning with you. Please note....some work won't be edited - just my first drafts, so there may be some surface errors. I would love your feedback, comments, thoughts and ideas.

C.I.P
This week and last week for C.I.P we have been working on a new recycling project. We are working with a company called TerraCycle and they are helping schools all around the world recycle pens and other stationary supplies that have run out and then they will come and pick them up and recycle them.To give information about TerraCycle we made DLO's to show our work. We are also decorating boxes to put the empty pens in. Here is my DLO.

We also have to answer some questions about the TerraCycle project:
How are we going to spread our message to our community?
We are going to spread it by talking to our family and asking them to talk to their friends and spread the message.
Who do you think will get involved?
I think some of the stationery shops around Hornby will get involved and maybe some other schools.
How many kgs do you think we will collect?
I think we will collect 10 or over kgs of used up stationery.
What should we do with the donation money we get from TerraCycle?
I think we should spend the money on new stationery for each classroom so that we aren't spending the schools money for new stationery.

CIP
Today we did C.I.P. We were finishing up our kea sculpture. We used lots of rubbish to create the birds wings, tails, body and head. My group was working on the wings and feathers. The feathers are made of old materials and the wings were made out of cardboard. Chloe made one wing and Bailey made the other. We have almost finished the kea and it must be finished today.

C.I.P Reflection
This week for C.I.P we have been discussing what we should make the mural / art look like in our school. We decided we were going to create a mural that is of birds and native animals related to HHS / Hornby community. I'm really excited about doing this mural because we are going to add bits of rubbish to the art work and it will keep our community cleaner.

Collecting Rubbish For The Community
Today for community impact projects we are looking at picking up rubbish around Hornby then using the recyclable rubbish to make art. For example plastic animals or art sculptures. Here are some things we are doing.
In your own words, what is the project?
The project is picking up rubbish around the community and turning the rubbish into art.
What is the purpose?
The purpose of this task is to make the community cleaner and also make beautiful art to put around Hornby.
How much rubbish do you think we are going to collect? Why do you think that?
I think we are going to pick up a decent amount of rubbish because where ever I go in Hornby there is always rubbish.
What colours do you think we will see the most? Why?
I think we will find the colour silver the most because of the can's and chip packets and stuff like that.
What type of art would you like to create?
I would like to create an animal out of the rubbish like a dog or cat.

Aotearoa Community Project.
This week for our Community Impact Project we had to answer questions about the topic we are doing. Community Impact Projects are what we can do to help out in the community. These are the questions we have to answer.
What community have you joined?
I joined the Aotearoa community group to help out around NZ with problems that we can fix.
Why is this group your passion?
This group is my passion because I have always liked where I live and I want to make sure that this beautiful place stays the same.
What one idea are you interested in?
The one idea I chose was helping out with fundraising so I can get enough money to help with all the SPCA buildings around NZ.
How do you think you will achieve this idea?
I will fundraise with mufti days and sausage sizzles so I can buy food for the SPCA.
Action Plan:
