Hurumanu Art

Today for art we are working on our narratives for our stop motions. We had to pick a buddy from the other class and work with them to edit their writing and my own. Here is my finished narrative.

The three excited girls walked to school that morning. It was the first day of school for them,

they were starting middle school. Sylvie, the girly girl of the group, loved clothes and make up,

and she was also SUPER rich! Meadow was the sporty one out of all the girls. She liked playing all sorts of sports and she was sort of rich because of Sylvie. Amber was an average girl who had no

special talent. Ambers family was poor but Sylvie supported her. But one day everything was going to change…

After class had finished all the girls were going to hang out but then Amber said “ I have to go

to a study group” The girls said “ Ok bye” Sylvie and Meadow went to the field and had a picnic. Sylvie had a surprise for Meadow. Once the girls had eaten her yummy snack

Sylvie had a present for

Meadow. Meadow said “Thanks Sylvie” “Your welcome” said Sylvie. Meadow was about to open her present but then the bell rang. “ I will open it when I get home” Exclaimed

Meadow. When period 5 had finished everyone in the school went home. Meadow wanted to run home because she was excited to open her present. When meadow got home she ran

straight to her room and went to her desk. When she opened the present she gasped. “AIRPODS!!!!” she shouted. The next day when the girls were at school Meadow ran

up to Sylvie she gave her a hug and said “ THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!” 

The next day Sylvie had gotten a present for Amber. It was in a similar pretty box, like

the one that she got Meadow. Amber was so pleased when she found our that Sylvie

had gotten her a new car! Amber was so happy she wanted to thank Sylvie, but

she was gone! Amber asked Meadow if she had seen Sylvie but she hadn't. They looked everywhere

for her but by the time they started, it was time to go home. 

When Amber and Meadow got to school that morning they saw something they

didn’t think they wanted to see. Sylvie was wearing a paper bag dress, no shoes and her hair was in a mess. They asked what happened and Sylvie replied in a weak voice “ I ran out of

money to buy food and clothes” So Meadow and Amber made a plan. “ We should give back the gifts that we got from Sylvie to the store she got them from and give her that

money” Said Meadow. “That’s a great idea!” exclaimed Amber. So after school

Amber and Meadow walked to the shops where she got them from and got over

$100,000 for Sylvie to buy food and clothes. So after school Amber and Meadow walked to the shops where she

ran up to Sylvie and gave her the money and said “ We thought you needed

this to survive” “Thank you!” She whispered. 

This was the story of the Kindness Boomerang.

Night Vision

For the next few weeks of reading my groups is doing a novel study. The book is called Night Vision but we are not aloud to read it yet because Miss Birtch has to look at our first impression of the book to see if we like it or not. Here are a few questions we have to answer.

Looking at the cover what to you think this book will be about?

I think this book will be about a girl that gets into mischief at night.

After reading the back what additional information do you have to add?
I learnt that Viola is a very mysterious girl and likes to explore but then she finds herself in deep trouble.

What genre do you think this story is?
I think this book is a thriller novel.

What are your thoughts of this novel study?
I think all novel study's are exciting but this one I think is the best I have seen.

Personal comment:
Overall I think that this will be a very interesting book to read from what I have learnt from the cover.

Kindness Cartoon

Today for CIP we have been creating kindness cartoons. A kindness cartoon is where you make a cartoon and you make it about kindness. Mine is about a kindness boomerang which is when one person helps someone and the the person that was helped helps someone else and it continues. Here is my cartoon.

Conclusion:

Bag 1- In conclusion for bag 1 I think that the water cycle worked fine.

Bag 2- In conclusion for bag 2 I think that it could have gone better.

Bag 3- In conclusion for bag 3 I think that it worked just as well as it could have.

Steps:

Step 1- Draw the water cycle on both bags.

Step 2- Pour a cup of normal water in one bag and a cup of soda water on the other.

Step 3- Add food colouring to both bags.

Art Hurumanu

For the end of last term and for the start of this term my class and tz have been working on hurumanu art. We are making stop motions with either whiteboard drawings or clay making. We have a theme called manaakitanga. Manaakitanga means being kind, generous, helpful and lots of other things. My group is doing whiteboard drawings and are doing generosity. The people in my group are Me, Neveah and Danni. Here is the first bit of our stop motion.

CIP

Today for cip we had to write about our passions that we do on Wednesdays. The passions I do are singing, dancing and a separate passion piano. Here is a description about my passions.

Piano:
Every Wednesday at 10:00 I go to the music room in the auditorium and play the piano. My teachers name is Nigel and my partners name is Lyan. I really like piano because I have always liked music and this is a way to express it.

Singing:
Every Wednesday , period 3 I go to singing in my old classroom. My teachers name is Whaea Raewyn and I do singing with lots of different people from lots of different classes. I enjoy singing because again like piano I like expressing how I feel about music.

Dance:
Every Wednesday, period 4 I go to dance in the auditorium. My teachers name is Miss Birtch and again like in singing there are lots of people from lots of different classes.I enjoy dance because I like exercising and being active.

How is this affecting creatures / animals like bats?

When they are adapting to heat they then die because it is to hot.

How could this effect the world ecosystems?

They could make things extremely hot and we would have lots of fires.

What global change was seen and recording breaking last year?

The ice breaking.

How is climate change affecting our weather systems?

The ice is melting

What will happen if the ice melts in Antarctica and the Arctic?

The oceans will rise and places could be covered in water.

The water that comes could kill us.

The climate change and the melting ice make the oceans expand.

What does too much heat do to the coral?

It becomes bleached then dies.

Why did some industries not want to stop burning fossil fuels?

Because the industries would have to stop making cars.
