Hands On Fire

The purpose of this experiment to learn how to follow instructions and BE SAFE.
DO NOT TRY THIS WITHOUT SUPERVISION OF A TRAINED PROFESSIONAL.

Aim: I want to find out how to safely set my hands on fire.

Method:
Equipment

  • Safety Glasses 
  • Gas Hose
  • Deep Tray
  • Liquid Detergent
  • Water
  • Gas
  • Lighter

Instructions

1. Put on your safety glasses
2. if you have long selves roll them up
3. Tie you hair back so it doesn't burn
4. Wet your hands, wrists and forearms 
5. Connect your gas hose to the gas tap
6. Bubble the gas into the soapy water
7. scoop up under the bubbles and slowly bring your arms and the soapy water up
8.hold your bubbles up straight arms and hold them up at eye height and lock your elbows
9. Then take 2 steps forward
10. next light the bubbles with your lighter
11. Slowly  Bring your arms apart and show your palms

Discussion
What happened?

 I was nervous when I was walking up to the pathway of DOOM!
Then, I was astonished when the big orange ball of fire burst up from my hands that were covered in gas bubbles. It felt like I had a massive sugar rush and was burning it all of on my hands.

Evaluation:
What went wrong?
I freaked out and didn't do it.
What could I do to fix it next time?
I could believe in myself more and give it a try.
What other experiments could I do that are related to this one?
  • Chemicals fire gases - Gases that are flammable and will burn and twist everything
  • Heat Chemistry - Dealing with HOT chemicals
